Age 91, died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 1996 in Springfield, Mo. She was born on May 14, 1905 in the home her father built in Saline. She was the daughter of Juluis Henry and Clara (Sturm) Lindenschmidt.
Before moving to Republic to live with her daughter in 1990, she was an active memer of the St. Paul United Church of Christ, and Zion Lutheran Church at Rogers Corners. She was past-president of the Washtenaw County Federation of Womens Clubs and had held offices including presidency of the state and other local women's clubs. She also did volunteer and charity work throughout her life. After moving to Republic she looked forward daily to meeting her friend at the Senior Center for lunch and other special activities.
She married Raymond Walter Niles, Sr. on May 28, 1932 in Ann Arbor, and he preceded her in death on March 20, 1970. Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Louis and William Lindenschmidt and one grandson, Eric Niles. She is survived by one daughter Zoa Niles Oliver of Rapublic, one son Raymond W. Niles, Jr. and his wife Lois, of Springfield, Mo., four grandsons, Shawn Oliver of Springfield., Matthew Oliver of Republic, Raymond W. Niles, III of Republic and Daniel Niles of Oak Harbor, Wash., ond granddaughter, Sandra (Mrs. Marvin Heim) of Chelsea; four great grandchildren, Kelli, Jill and Henry Heim of Chelsea, Michigan and Trisha Niles of Corvallis, Ore., as well as many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, Sept. 8, 1996 at 1 p.m. at the Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home, Saline, with the Rev. Lynn Spitz-Nagel officiating. Burial took place in the Oakwood Cemetery Saline.
