Mr. Pate was retired from Kentucky Utilities.
He was a member of Temple Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge No. 449 and Rizpah Shrine Temple. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, Knights Templar.
Survivors include three daughters, Louise Myrick of Reidland, Sue Nell Spees of Freemont, and Mary E. Dowdy of Paducah; 13 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren.
Mr. Pate was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years. Virginia St. John Pate; two daughters and one brother. His parents were Charles W. and Mary Etta Miller Pate.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Roth Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Virgil Diel officiating. Burial will be in Maplelawn Cemetery.
Friends may call after 1 p.m. today at the funeral home, where Masonic rites will be conducted at 7 this evening.
