Longtime Arlington resident Billie Jo Stredel, 78, passed away Monday, Oct. 25, 2010. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the H.O.P.E. Tutoring Center in Arlington or Community Hospice of Texas at Arlington Memorial Hospital, 817-960-6613. Until she retired, Billie worked as an inventory special-ist. She was an active member of the East Arlington Renewal Organization and Arlington Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association. For many years Billie and her husband Gilbert hosted the National Night Out for their Neighborhood Crime Watch. She also worked as a volunteer for many other community organizations. Billie will always be remembered by her family and friends for her golden rule, "I do what I want and I want what I do." Billie was preceded in death by her father, Oland Gray and brother, Jerry Gray. Survivors: Her devoted, loving husband of over 62 years, Gilbert; sons, Michael Striedel and Patrick Striedel; daughter, Barbara Gair; grandchildren, Misty Maloney, Aaron Gair, James Gair, Tony Striedel, Erica Striedel; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; mother, Leota Gilbert; sisters, Myra Smith, Nadine Bell; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
