Kenneth A. Ackerman, 88, a lifelong resident of Wenatchee, passed away peacefully in the beauty of the Entiat River Valley on Thursday, November 6, 2003.
He was born on July 17, 1915, in St. Paul, Minnesota and moved with his parents to Wenatchee at a very young age.
He worked in the mine at Holden, WA then with Cascade and Weinstein Beverage, retiring after 30 years.
He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, gardening, working in his yard and going south in the winter. His hobby was working on small engines. He loved the many dogs he had throughout the years.
He is survived by his wife, Isabel; daughter, Sandy (Denny) English of East Wenatchee; sons, Dick (Sandy) Ackerman of California, Bob (Noella) Ackerman of East Wenatchee; step-daughters, Jackie Griffith, Port Townsend, WA and Sharon (Marvin) Fagg, East Wenatchee; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Francis; parents; two sisters and one brother.
Memorials may be made to the Wenatchee Humane Society. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 10, 2003 at Betts Funeral Chapel, Wenatchee, Pastor Ron Yates officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, November 9, 2003, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
