Sheryl Kay (Fussell) Kessler, 64, passed away on Monday, August 19th in Atlanta, GA. Sheryl was born on June 6, 1949 in Savannah, GA to Tollie and Shirley Fussell. She graduated from Robert W. Groves High School, completed a degree in Accounting at Mercer University, an MBA at Mercer University, and achieved her CPA. She worked for Avon Corporation for 15 years. Sheryl's love for her family and her faith in God were central to who she was. She grew up with a deep faith that guided her through good times and bad. Her family meant the world to her. She made it a point to keep a family location chart with everyone's contact information and important dates, and she had an interest in genealogy. She spoke regularly to her siblings to keep up with all of her nieces and nephews and their families. Sheryl had a passion for reading since she was a young girl and often read multiple books at a time. She was never without a book in reach. She was also a late-blooming artist with a talent for painting that gave her great enjoyment over the last years of her life. Sheryl leaves behind her husband, Michael Alan Kessler, sons Kristopher Wade Carter, Kevin Joseph Carter, and Kacey Nicholas Carter, daughters-in-law Jennifer Carter, Soraya Carter, and Kerri Schettgen, granddaughters Kailee Jean Carter, Amelia Jean Carter, Grace Josephine Carter, Isabel Rose Carter, and Mischa Josephine Carter, brother Leslie Fussell, sisters Nancy Borgsmiller and Pamela Drake, sister-in-law Janice Fussell, brother-in-law Ralph Borgsmiller, as well as nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephew, aunts and uncle, who are all important to her and part of her "family-in-love". She also leaves behind her loving father, Tollie Edgar Fussell, with whom she looked forward to celebrating his 90th birthday next month. Sheryl leaves behind so many others who were a part of her family by blood or by love, and many, many others who she counted as friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley Baskin Fussell, whom she now joins at long last in heaven. There will be visitation on Saturday, August 24, from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at H.M.Patterson & Son Oglethorpe Hill Chapel, 4550 Peachtree Road NE, Atlanta, GA. A funeral service will be held the following day on Sunday, August 25 at 1:30pm in the Sunrise Chapel at Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mt Vernon Hwy NW, Sandy Spring, GA. In lieu of flowers, please celebrate Sheryl's life by giving to the Scottish Rite Foundation of Georgia, Inc., 1690 Peachtree Street NW, Atlanta, GA 30309, or the Georgia Masonic Charities Foundation, Inc., 811 Mulberry Street, Macon, GA 31201. Perhaps one of the best ways you can celebrate her life is to hug and kiss your family and remember her through prayer and love.
