Mr. Fussell was a retired steamfitter with Plumbers Steamfitters Local 188 and was an active member of the Garden City community. He was a member, deacon, and elder at The Chapel In The Gardens Presbyterian Church, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, member and past president of The American Legion Post 135, a Fifty Year Mason and member of The Frank F. Baker Masonic Lodge #46, a member of the Greeters Unit of Alee Temple, and member of The Tybee Optimist Club. Mr. Fussell loved woodworking, gardening, and fishing.
Mr. Fussell was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Baskin Fussell, his eldest daughter, Sheryl F. Kessler, and by a brother, Robert Leon Fussell. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Leslie Les (Janice) Fussell, daughters, Nancy (Ralph) Borgsmiller and Pamela Drake, son-in-law, Michael Kessler, sisters, Gloria (Bobby) Finn and Fleeta Todd, grandchildren, Kris (Jennifer) Carter, Kevin (Sissy) Carter, Kacey (Kerry) Carter, Sarrah Howard, Katie (Robbie) Oglesby, Chris Harlin, Jon (Jessica) Borgsmiller, Karen Borgsmiller, Jeremy Drake, Lance Drake, and Savana Payne, and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2014, 10:30 A.M., at The Chapel In The Gardens Presbyterian Church with Reverend Daren Russell officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and members of the Greeters Unit of Alee Temple and Elders of the church will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Fairhaven Funeral Home Garden City Chapel on Monday evening from 5:30 until 7:30 P.M. and from 9:30 A.M. until the service hour on Tuesday at Chapel In The Gardens.
The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Chapel In The Gardens Presbyterian Church, 93 Main Street, Garden City, Ga. 31408 in memory of Mr. Tollie Fussell.
Interment will follow in Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery.
