Mr. Lietz was born on Dec. 21, 1916, in Sadorus, the son of Albert A. and Anna Koss Lietz. He married Thelma M. Doehring on Dec. 24, 1942, in Mineral Wells, Texas. She passed away on Dec. 8, 1993. He later married Gertrude Klitzing Ruhnow on April 29, 1995, in Sadorus. She preceded him in death on Jan. 8, 2002.
Survivors include his daughter, Carolyn Hilligoss of Decatur; son David Lietz of Tuscola; five grandchildren, Tim, Chris, Jennifer, Tammy and Ehren; three great-grandsons, Zack, Austin and Samuel; one brother, Earl Lietz of Reedsburg, Wis.; and three stepchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sons, Louis, Wayne and Roger; daughter-in-law, Brenda; and three grandchildren, Charles, Nicole and Marci Lietz; two brothers and three sisters.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Marci Lietz Scholarship Fund, c/o Tuscola Community High School, 500 South Prairie Street, Tuscola, IL 61953 or donor's choice.
Albert was a retired farmer, having farmed north of Tuscola for over 40 years. He was a lifelong member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Sadorus. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran, having served in the South Pacific.
