FORT MYERS NEWS-PRESS, April 4, 1971 - Funeral service for Joseph R. Smallwood, 89, of 1118 10th St., S. W., Ruskin, who died at the home early Friday morning, will be held at the Jewers and Shannon Funeral Home Monday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. L. E. Watkins, pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiating. Masonic graveside service will follow in the Ruskin Memorial Park with DeSotoa Lodge 105 F&AM Riverview, officiating.
He is survived by three sons, Hunter Lee Smallwood and Bob Swails, both of Fort Myers, and Joseph Homer Smallwood of Ruskin; daughters, Mrs. Margaret Willis and Mrs. Dorothy Corothers, both of Ruskin; brother, Jesse L. Smallwood of Jacksonville; sister, Mrs. Ross Pope of Dade City; and 15 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends in the Jewers and Shannon Funeral Home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
