Gerhard Hoefer Dies Tuesday

Gerhard Hoefer, 70, resident of Adams county (sic) for more than 40 years, died at 10:15 pm Tuesday at his farm home eight miles southwest of Hastings. He had been ill for the past four months.

Born in Bremen, Germany, he came to the United States with his mother when he was six years old, settling at Mendota, Ill. He came to Adams county (sic) 43 years ago and for the past 40 years he had resided on his farm southwest of Hastings.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Meta Hoefer; two daughters, Miss Ella Hoefer and Miss Martha Hoefer; three sons, John, Elmer and Walter, all at home; one half brother, Fred Grothen, Hastings.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church southwest of Hastings, preceded by prayer services at the family home at 2 p.m. The Rev. E. Walters will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be taken from the Livingston-Butler Funeral Home here Friday morning to the family home.
