Mr. Jack Barnes, age 78, of Rome, passed away Friday, April 12, 2024, at a local hospital. He was born in Rome, Georgia on August 22, 1945, to the late Violette Barnes Arthur and the late Albert Walter Barnes.

Jack served in the United States Navy and was assigned to a submarine, the USS Razorback. Jack lived most of his life in California and Washington state, moving back to Rome in 2011. He was a man who loved talking about politics to anyone that was willing to debate with him. He was a huge fan of President Donald Trump and the Republican party. He always loved to read books and newspapers, and he loved to play a good game of Scrabble or make a small wager in a game of Poker.

A private graveside service was held for Mr. Barnes at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

The family would like to thank Fifth Avenue nursing home and its staff for the seven years of quality care for Mr. Barnes.

Jack's family entrusted his arrangements to the care of Parnick Jennings Good Shepherd Funeral Home.
