Dollie was born on 14 FEB 1841 in Natchetoches, Sabine Parish, Louisiana. Her parents were Levi West,Sr. and Winney Elizabeth Bivens.

She was married to Lural Thomas (Lurel) Dement, Jr.; born on FEB 1842 in Lauderdale, Lauderdale County, Alabama

They were married on 21 DEC 1865 in Caldwell Cty, Texas

Dollie passed away on 15 JUN 1917 in Luling, Caldwell Cty, Texas

Mrs. L. Dement died at the home of her son, Jim Smith after a lingering illness of several weeks. She left a host of relatives and friends to mourn her, and in her death we lost one who was true and dear to all who knew her.

She was born in Louisiana February 15, 1842. She united with the Baptist church at the age of sixteen and lived a true and devoted Christian until her death. She came to Texas in the early days, about the time of the Civil War, and resided in Luling the rest of her life.

She was the mother of twelve children, six of who are still living the time of her death. She also left a number of grandchildren and other relatives and friends. The remains were tenderly laid to rest in McNeil Cemetery Monday, June 4. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Thomas McCarley, her pastor for a number of years.
Buried next to Berry Dement.

Jan McLay is the ggg granddaughter of Levi West Sr. and his daughter Tabitha was her gg grandmother. Dollie's daughter Tommie Dement was Jan's g grandmother.

Dollie's sister was Isabella Elizabethson "West" Cochran
