Virge N. Brown Annabella/St. George Virge Nathaniel Brown, 91, the son of Adelia Hanchett and Richard Brown, Jr., was born September 6, 1911 in Annabella, Sevier County, Utah. He was the eighth of nine children.

He passed away May 15, 2008 in St. George, Utah. Virge attended grade school in Annabella and high school in Richfield, where he was involved in football and track. He was on the football team that took second in the state in 1930. After graduation he attended Brigham Young University on a football scholarship. On November 29, 1933 he married Lillian Daniels, a daughter of William S. Daniels (1883-1964) and Lillian Pearl Gauchet Daniels (1884-1920) of Annabella, in the Manti LDS Temple. Two sons were born to this union: Roger Blain Brown (1935-1998) and Richard Kent Brown (1937-2007) .

Virge was involved in town, county, and state government. He was on the Annabella town board for two terms; served for 12 years as a Sevier County Commissioner; served for 16 years on the Central Utah Water Conservancy District, representing Sanpete, Sevier, Piute and Garfield Counties. He was president of the Annabella Canal Company; director and president of the Otter Creek Reservoir; and on the executive committee of the Sevier River Water Users. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Virge served in many positions. He was a great fan of the Utah JAZZ. He had a great long-term memory and loved his family dearly.

Virge is survived by his daughters-in-law: Gloria Savage Brown, Annabella and Lannie Berrett Brown, St. George; 13 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; sons; great grandson, Kayden Corey Winkel (1989-2006); brothers and sisters: Ivy Barney, Grace Brown, Arnol Brown, Chloa Lorensen, Vida Hooper, Cyril Brown, Leoa Anderson, and Ione Brown.

Funeral services will be Monday, May 19, 2008 at 11 a.m. in the Annabella 1st Ward Chapel. Friends may call Sun. evening at the Magleby Mortuary from 6-8 p.m. and again Mon. morning at the ward chapel from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti. We want to give special thanks to the Beehive Home in St. George for their love and exceptional care for the past six months.
