George was born in Sidon, a small town in White County, Arkansas, in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains. His father was John Charles Jackson, born 25 March 1860 in Niles, Berrien County, Michigan. George's mother was Anna Freeman, born in Marh 1860 in Kosciusko County, Indiana. J C and Anna married in Kosciusko County, Indiana on 6 Oct 1879. Thier first child, Mabel Claire, was born in Indiana, before they moved to White County, Arkansas, and the 1900 census placed them in Searcy, the county seat.

At age 21, the 1910 census reported 21-year-old George in Pratt County, Kansas with some Freeman relatives. He must have just moved there, because he does not yet have a job. But before long he was working for the CRI&P Railway, the predecessor to the Rock Island Line. He worked until his retirement with the Rock Island Line.

While in Pratt County, George married Neva G, whose parents were living in Illinois when she was born. They were reported in the 1915 Kansas state census living in the household of a widow named Margaret Mansfield, along with another apparently unrelated boarder. In 1918 Margaret married George's widowed father John Charles Jackson.

George and Neva settled in North Little Rock, Arkansas, where they lived out their lives at the address 2416 Franklin St. George died at the Arkansas Baptist Hospital of Coronary Thrombosis.

His death certificate reported he was buried on January 3, 1955, in the Roselawn Cemetery in Little Rock, where other members of the Jackson family, including his father John Charles Jackson, repose. George's mother Anna Freeman Jackson is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, Searcy, White County, Arkansas.
