Wellington Grubb was a farmer in Brandywine Hundred who also owned property in Wilmington. He was the son of James and Sarah (Ford) Grubb.

Wellington married Beulah Allmond, and they had eight children, but only two survived to adulthood. The family moved to Wilmington by 1850, where he was listed as a grocer. They were the parents of the Delaware Supreme Court Associate Justice Ignatius C. Grubb.
