J COURTRIGHT
Joseph "Joe" Courtright, 74, died Saturday at his home, 311 East Tenth Avenue. Funeral arrangements are not yet completed and will be announced later by the Strode Funeral Home.
Courtright, a retired farmer, came to Oklahoma the year of the Cherokee Strip opening, and had lived near Perkins, Ripley and Stillwater.
He was born in Johnson County, Kas, June 24, 1870, the son of Richard and Hannah Courtright. He was married in Stillwater on Jan 15, 1897, to Amanda Jane who survives him. Surviving sons and daughters are Carl COURTRIGHT, Perkins; Harold COURTRIGHT, Glencoe; Floris COURTRIGHT, Vallejo/Calif; Joseph COURTRIGHT, Stillwater Route 4; S-Sgt. Richard COURTRIGHT, Ft Reno; Dewayne COURTRIGHT, Ripley; Mrs Gertrude ROBINSON, Three Sands; Mrs Bertha GATES, Glencoe Route 1, and Mrs Helen MILLIRON, Oklahoma City. Two daughters preceded him in death.
Brothers and sisters are Charlie COURTRIGHT, Stillwater; Mode COURTRIGHT, Rembrant, Iowa; Mrs Hannah LADD, Drumright, and Mrs. Helen DuRAIN, Pawnee. In addition there are 30 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and a host of nephews and nieces.
