Sylvester Perkins, 84, died Wednesday, March 9 at his home in Elk Valley.
He was a retired rural mail carrier.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Gibson Perkins; five daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Heatherly of Alcoa, Mrs. Ruth Miller of Kingsport, Mrs. Louise Hol*ole of Oak Ridge, Mrs. Carrie Brundick of Baltimore, Md., Mrs. Marie Ellard of Elk Valley; two sons, Ernest L. of Elk Valley, and Bill Perkins of *masville, N.C.; two sisters, Mrs. Nancy Jane McGuire of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Mrs. Rosetta Blankenship of Jellico; one brother, Henry Perkins of Elk Valley; 10 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 12 at Elk Fork Baptist Church by the Rev. R.L. Gibson and the Rev. Roe Chitwood. Martin Funeral Home, Lake City, is in charge of arrangements.
