~My Loving Father~

Conley Leon Todd, Sr. is the son of John Louis and Delphia May Scroggins Todd. He was born and raised in Wright City, Oklahoma. Graduating from high school in Wright City during the end of the depression era, he put himself thru college at Oklahoma University in Norman, OK. He graduated in 1936 with a BS Major in Botany and a Minor in Chemistry. He continued his studies toward a Master's Degree lacking one semester. He began work in Social Services for the Welfare Dept. in Idabel, McCurtain Co., Oklahoma. There, he met his future wife, Alice Jane Hudson, who had been hired as his Secretary and the rest is history.

Leon married Jane on 17 Sep 1938 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. In 1940, they had a son and later in 1947, a daughter. In 1945, the couple and their son moved to Newton Texas, where Leon became the Business Manager for the "Newton Lumber Company". Around 1953, he left Newton Lumber Company to work at Newton's First National Bank.

Leon was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church, where he served many years as a Deacon. He was a member of the Newton Masonic Lodge as a 33rd Degree Mason and Shriner. He was first initiated as a Mason in Lodge #483 in Wright City, OK in 1937 where his father was a Charter member. He was a member of the Newton Lion's Club. His passions were gardening and woodworking. Especially growing Camellias. A member of the Am. Camellia Society and the Woodcarver's Association of America. He could grow anything and also planted a large garden every year but his Camellias were his love.

Preceded in death by his father, Leon is survived by a wife and two children as well as his mother Mrs. John Todd, and his brother J.N. "Rosy" Todd and extended family. He was proud to have two granddaughters but did not live to see his other grandchildren.

He has since been followed in death by his wife, Jane Hudson Todd, his mother, Delphia May, and brother John Neal "Rosy" Todd

and his wife Ruby.

I know you rest and are at peace with your Heavenly Father. You walked with Him on earth.... I know you walk with Him in Heaven...
