MRS MATILDA C. GANDY
HAZLEHURST, March 23 - Funeral services were held for Mrs. Matilda Cagle Gandy, 74. who died after a lingering illness. The rites were conducted by her pastor, the Rev. Mr. Clark, assisted by the Rev. Mr. Johns of Georgetown, and were held at the Sardis church. Interment was in the family plot in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Gandy is survived by nine sons and daughters, four brothers, seven sisters, thirty grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She had lived all her life in the McCardle community, and is remembered for her kindly Christian character and devotion to her church.
Six grandsons served as pallbearers.
