LAY Cassel M. Cassel M. Lay, 92, of south Toledo, passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2011, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo surrounded by her family and friends. Cassel worked at the former Toledo State Hospital in the laundry and housekeeping departments for over 20 years. She attended several Church of God churches in the Toledo area. Cassel was preceded in death by her husband, Lonzo; daughter, Louise Dickens and son-in-law, Fred Schmidt. Surviving are her children, Ozzie (Jackee) Lay and Carolyn Schmidt; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Clyde Cecil and sisters-in-law, Genevieve Cecil and Karen Lay. Cassel was a kind, generous lady, always ready to help others. She loved her family and especially, spending the holidays with family and friends. Friends may call at the Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Ave., on Monday, August 15, 2011, from 2 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, August 17, at 1:00 p.m. in Elk Valley, TN. Memorials are requested to Hospice of Northwest Ohio. walterfuneralhome.com
