Arthur Basel, well known citizen of Osage County, died at his home in Junction Township near Lyndon on January 13, age seventy nine years. The deceased came to this county in the early seventies and settled on a farm where he died. From the Herald we take this paragraph concerning him.
"The death of his wife and two sons, together with his activity as a salesman, were sore afflictions which cause him to be stricken with paralysis which cause the loss of speech, an affliction which he bore with patience and Christian forbearance, until he suffered a second stroke on Monday after which he only lived a few minutes. He was a fine neighbor, a good citizen, and a faithful friend. Mr. Basel always attended every gathering of importance in the county, particularly the Old Settlers' meeting.
