This memorial is based on her Oregon death certificate that reported burial in the Nyssa Cemetery (also called Hilltop Memorial Cemetery) in Nyssa, Oregon.

Early records for Nina Nellie Terry report her as Nellie Terry or Nellie N Terry. Some records have both names, usually with Nina first. Later in life, after her divorce from Ray Winans in about 1940, she seems to have gone to using her name Nina, so sometimes she is Nina instead of Nellie. A few records report her as Nina Nellie.

Her Oregon death certificate reports her as Nina Nellie Cagle. Nellie was born to Rev John Roland Terry and Susan Catherine Stewart in Dalton, Georgia. Her family moved west with other Terry relatives and settle in the Marlow, Oklahoma, area. Nellie's father was a pastor of the Baptist church in Marlow for a while, while also maintaining a farm in the area.

Nellie married Raymond Edmond Winans in Marlow in 1907 a few days before Chickasaw nation became a part of the new state of Oklahoma. Not long after, Nellie and Ray moved to Pleasant Valley (Webster County), Iowa, where Ray went to work in the Gypsum Mill there.

They moved together with Ray's sister Bessie Winans and her new husband Joseph Benjamin Jenkins of Marlow. Bessie and Joe married a few days before Ray and Nellie. The 1910 census reports them living together in one household. Joe was also working at the Gypsum Mill, as was nearly everyone listed on the census page with them.

By that time Joe and Bessie had their first child Florence. Nellie and Ray's only child, Frenchie Harold Winans, was born on 1 November that year.

They later moved to Idaho, where in the early to mid 1930s, Nellie and Ray divorced. From this point, she began using the name Nina instead of Nellie.

Before April 1935, Nina married John Henry Applegate. The 1940 census reported they had been together before 1 April 1935 in Nampa (Canyon County) a little south of Boise. But that census enumerated them in Boise, where they were residents of the Pacific Hotel, where Nina was a chambermaid and John was a cook in the restaurant.

John died in March 1947. On 24 December 1947, Nina Terry Winans Applegate married divorcé Albert Creed Cagle in Boise.

By the time for the 1950 census, Nina and Albert were living in the East Side Hotel in Ontario, Malheur County, Oregon. The census reports Albert as a professional gambler. Nina was working as a waitress in a local cafe.

Meanwhile after the 1950 census Ray Winans moved to Carson City, Nevada, where he passed away in 1955. Nina and Ray's son Frenchie died in 1964 in Reno, Nevada.

Nina and Albert lived in Ontario until Albert died in August 1968. Nina continued living in Malheur County, and she died on 1 October 1970 in Nyssa, apparently where she maintained her residence at that time.
