Raymond Edmond Winans married Nina Nelie Terry on 25 October 1907 in Marlow (Chickasaw Nation), in the Southern District of Indian Territory. (These Indian Territory records are now held in Ardmore, Carter County, Oklahoma. Ancestry incorrectly reports the place of the marriage as Carter County. Marlow is in the current Stephens County, Oklahoma.)

On the marriage record, the clerk mis entered Ray's name as Roy F Winans. It is easy to see how the clerk filling out the marriage record could have written Roy instead of Ray, but no initial F is found in any other record for Ray.

Ray and Nellie divorced in later 1934 or early 1935. Nellie married again in Boise, Idaho before April 1935. No 1940 census hs been found for Ray.

Ray's 1942 draft registration indirectly supports the idea that they have divorced, since Ray is working on a ranch and living in Emmett and he reports a Winans relative as his contact person, not his wife.
