William Christian Winters was born in 1854. His parents were Benjamin F. Winters, Sr., and Sylvania "Vaney" Adeline Cude. His fraternal grandparents were James Washington Winters, Sr. and Rhoda Creel Beall Winters. James Washington Winters, Sr., hauled supllies to General Sam Houston at the Battle of San Jacinto. William's maternal grandparents were William Arthur Cude, Jr., and Eleanor Long Cude.

William grew up to marry Cynthia "Dell" Sylvania Cude. The couple's only child was Tabatha Ada Jane Winters. Their marriage was an unhappy one, and they soon separated.

Their daughter Ada Jane married Herman Otto Gold. She is buried in the Wimberley Cemetery also.
