He was also a Confederate Soldier during the Civil War. He was a private in Company A, 1st Battalion (Stirmans's) Arkansas Cavalry.
Mr. Alex Bringle, one of the oldest and most highly respected citizens of Dover, died yesterday after a three week's illness and was laid to rest in the McFadden cemetery this afternoon. Mr. Bringle lived a long and useful life, was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian church for a number of years and numbered his friends by his acquaintances. He was mayor of Dover several terms and served his town well in that capacity. He leaves a wife, two sons and a number of relatives, besides a host of friends to mourn his death. We extend sympathy to the bereaves ones. (Russellville Courier-Democrat, Thursday, 19 Sep 1912).
