James married Ann Geeson on 25 May 1846 in Alfreton, Derbyshire. He worked as a Moulder in the Ironworks foundry there. Alfreton and Riddings merged to create Somercotes in 1898, which is where he died at age 82. He was buried on 16 Aug 1905 (death date is approximated); the burial record didn't record the the specific cemetery, but the priest was Wm. Percy Mahony who was the curate of St Thomas Anglican Church after 1902.
