Ella Comeaux Dupont
A devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a homemaker, she took pride in caring for her family. She was a great cook and enjoyed sewing and quilting. A resident of Plaquemine and a native of Sardine Point, she passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2008, at the home of her daughter, Betty. Visiting at Wilbert Funeral Home, Plaquemine, on Friday was from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Visiting resumes at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 12:40 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Plaquemine on Saturday at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Cleo Milano, celebrant. Interment in Grace Memorial Park. She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Daine and Robert Hebert and Betty Dupont and Sam Irwin, all of Baton Rouge; son and daughter-in-law, Dale Dupont and Carole Peavy Dupont, of Plaquemine; sister, Belvie Comeaux, LaRose; brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth Comeaux Sr. and Lela Blanchard Comeaux, Grosse Tete; seven grandchildren, Robin Adams and husband Dale, Randal Dupont and wife Keri, Corie Watkins, Chuck Hebert and wife Cass, Hannah Derr and husband Tracy, Duncan Moore, and Molly Moore; and 10 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Paul Cleo Dupont; parents, Alcee and Laura Dupuy Comeaux; five sisters, Anona Banker, Laura Comeaux, Estenie Hennigan, Bernice Barrins and Harriet Dean; and brother, Verner Comeaux Sr. Pallbearers will be Randal Dupont, Dale Adams, Tracy Derr, Andy Dupont, Robert Hebert, Mark Barrios, Kenny Comeaux and Chuck Hebert. Honorary pallbearers are Warren Freeman and all the guys she fed every Saturday at the Lazy Heart. Special thanks to John Barbee, Michael Barbee, the staff at Comfort Care Hospice and Wilbert Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Comfort Care Hospice in Plaquemine.
