Court 6 JUL 1842 Auburn, Cayuga, NY records: "On this date, Thomas SWAIN of Manlius petitioned to be declared bankrupt" as reported by the Onondaga Standard.
Census: 1855 Manlius, Onondaga, NY, Thomas was 42 and living as a boarder in the house adjacent to his mother's house; his occupation shown to be "Dentist".
The following posted to RootsWeb page for Thomas by Peter Blood: "A dentist in Manlius consumed by alcoholism".
From The Fayetteville Recorder, Apr 26 1894:
"The funeral of Dr. Thomas E. Swain, a former resident of this village, who died at 479 Bart St., Syracuse, was held on Sunday from his late home. Burial was in the family lot in Oran."
His death certificate, NY Certificate #17049, lists his occupation as Dentist, place of death Syracuse. The information for the certificate was supplied by nephew Richard J. Todd, a son of Elizabeth Swain Todd, sister of Thomas.
