THOMAS ERNEST ABELL, 86, of St. Mary, died at 7:40 a.m. Tuesday, February 6, 1979, at Mary Immaculate Hospital. A native of Marion County, he was a retired farmer and the son of the late Charles Robert and Nettie Blair Abell. Survivors include his wife, Nettie Mattingly Abell; seven daughters, Mrs. Pauline Greenwell, Mrs. Dorothy Mattingly, Mrs. Catherine Cox and Mrs. Jeanette Bradshaw, all of Louisville, Mrs. Margaret West of Raywick; Mrs. Cecilia Wright of St. Mary and Mrs. Lois Ann Southall of Lebanon; three sons, James Abell of Ithaca, Michigan, Louis Abell of Lebanon and Joe Abell of Lexington; 36 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, February 9 at St. Charles Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. Br. Henry Knopp officiated. Pallbearers were Pat Bradshaw, Joe Mattingly, Jimmy West, Tom Abell, Ricky Abell and Mike Greenwell. Bosley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
