DES MOINES, Iowa — Betty Dye Seideman, 93, passed away peacefully at Calvin Community in Des Moines, Iowa, on Feb. 20, 2017.


Betty was the daughter of Floyd and Bertha Smith. She was born in Illinois and lived in Abingdon most of her life. She married Dale Dye and they had one daughter, Patricia. Dale died in 1985, and later she married Ralph Seideman who died in 2002. In 2005, she moved to Johnston, Iowa, to be closer to family.


She was preceded in death by her brother, Marlin Smith; her sister, Dorothy Richardson; and one grandson.


Betty is survived by her daughter, Patricia (John) Pratt; granddaughter, Michele (Scott) Digmann; two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Mikaela; and two half-sisters, Jean Shafer and Rachel Hunter.


Per Betty's wishes, there will be no services at this time.


Betty wanted to express how grateful she was for all the wonderful friends she had over the years and how much she enjoyed the ones at Cornerstone Commons. Especially appreciated was the special care she received at Calvin Community.
