In 1987, Josie's Love letters were recovered in the Koster Herman City homestead and are in my private collection. Letters from 1903 show bickering between Josie and Leon. By June 1904, she had dropped him and was dating William Epperson, a Methodist circuit minister who had a brief stay at Elwood. Not long after Epperson stepped in, he became strict and controlling with Josie. By 1905 she had returned to Leon and subsequent correspondence between the couple indicate a much more calmer and secure relationship.
