Koster Family Genealogy

Johannes Cord Koster (d. Aug. 15, 1853)
Married Louise Stoppenhagen (d. Jan. 2, 1858)

Their children:

1. Friederick (b. Jan. 15, 1812)
2. Christian (b. Nov. 13, 1813)
3. Minchen (Minnie) (b. Jan. 5, 1816 d. 1889)
4. Heinrick (b. Nov. 17, 1821)
5. Conrad (b. Aug. 1, 1823)
6. Carl (Charles) (b. Oct. 21, 1825 d. Apr. 2, 1899)
7. Sophie (b. March 26, 1828)
8. Dorette (b. July 21, 1832)
9. Wilhelm (b. Jan. 26, 1825 d. Oct. 29, 1891)
10. Lisette (b. Jan. 20, 1837)
11. August Ernst Diedrich (b. June 17, 1840 d. 1925)

"This data, in as far as birthdates are concerned, were found in a small German bible. August was youngest of 14 children, hence 3 children apparently died before becoming adults. Data apparently furnished by Minnie Koester (sic!), according to a letter.

According to A. E. Koster (#11) there were 14 children in all, of he was the last. Apparently 3 died before they became adults and were probably of little moment. A. E. Koster said that 2 went to China as missionaries. I do not know the names of these 2 sons. The majority of the family were highly religious. Two or three were not particularly of religious bent."

All the above remarks and genealogy by Hollis Koster.

Note: my research indicates that only one brother, Heinrick (#4), went to China as a missionary. He went to Hong Kong in 1847 and died there six months later.
