Lela Pat Register Mason of Palatka, Florida, passed away Monday at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center at the age of 85 following a brief illness. She was a daughter of the late Carl and Jennie Davis Register.


Pat was born in Hastings and grew up in Willacoochee, Georgia. She had lived in this area for most of her life and had been quilting for over 50 years. She had been a member of New Hope Baptist Church since 1950 and had bee recognized as the longest serving member.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Clyde Wells and Joe Mason (m. 1989); a son, Sammy Wells; 11 brothers and sisters, J. B. Register, Leroy Register, Paula Stevens, James "Mickey" Register, Vermalee Brazzeal, S. M. Register, Melvin Register, Ann Houck, Mary Lou Register, Harris Register, and infant Register; and a daughter-in-law, Patti Wells.


Survivors include two sons, Danny (Rhonda) Wells and Bennie Wells; two grandsons, Roy Wells and Wesley Wells; great-grandsons, Everett Wells and Maynard Wells; two brothers, Jerry C. (Debi) Register and Gene (Cherie) Register; a sister, Ruby (Henry) Dykes; and numerous nieces and nephews.


Funeral services were at 11 am Friday, April 21, 2023, at Masters Funeral Home in Palatka with Pastor Glenn Tillis officiating.
