Funeral for Betty Jane Hensley Sharp, devoted mother and grandmother, 76, of Decatur will be Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Ben Hayes officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Sharp, who died Sunday, May 4, 2008, at her residence, was born Jan. 4, 1932, in Lawrence County to Thomas Abe Hensley and Carrie Harris-Hensley. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Ladies Fire Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Sharp; two brothers, Eugene Hensley and Junior Hensley; and three sisters, Louise Hogan, Willodean Photion and Nell Meeks.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Allen Sharp and wife, Diana, Tommy Sharp and wife, Martha; three daughters, Barbara Carpenter, Rebecca Hokett and husband, Dave, Susan Kennedy and husband, David; grandchildren, Angela Sharp, Julian Sharp, Adrian Sharp, Lilly Sharp, John Sharp, Jeff Sharp, Jason Sharp, Melissa Lewis, David Bailey, Mark Carpenter, Christy Chewning, Tim Hokett, Ashley DeWitt, Mason Kennedy, John David Kennedy; six great-grand-children, Abby, Amelie, Jack, Lexie, Cade, Cullen.
Pallbearers will be Richard Batchelor, Sammy Ward, Ray Cox, Mark Ray, Andy Tetoni and Ted Grantland. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Sims, Ralph Sharp, Donnie Sharp, Farris Kennedy, Tommy Hensley, Mike Carroll, Mitch Carroll, Joe Hill and Harold Holland.
