Charles Edward Monroe, 87, entered eternal life on March 6, 2024, in Appleton, Wisconsin, following a brief illness. Chuck was born on November 30, 1936, on the family farm in Hartland, Shawano County, Wisconsin, to Vernon and Victoria (Seering) Monroe, the second of seven children.

Chuck was baptized on April 22, 1937, and confirmed on April 16, 1950 at Ev. United Brethren Church, Bonduel. He graduated from Bonduel High School on May 18, 1954. Chuck served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1962.

Chuck married Donna Klevesahl on August 11, 1962, at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Zachow, Wisconsin and they were blessed with two children, Jodi and Chuck. He became a member at Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church on January 29, 1964, where he faithfully served his church in many ways: church council, church secretary, chairman of the fellowship committee, head director for second service, counting team and usher. For many years, Chuck was up before dawn on Easter Sunday, brewing coffee for the Easter breakfast. He also enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing sheepshead, maintaining a beautiful yard, and trips to the casino. Chuck was very proud of his grandkids and enjoyed watching their activities. Chuck worked for Zaug's Vending for 36 years as the maintenance supervisor, retiring in 1998.


Chuck is survived by his children: Jodi (Mark) Broehm and Chuck (Martha) Monroe and six grandchildren: Jenna Broehm (fiancé Nolan Tiedt), Isaac Monroe, Caitlin Broehm, Adeline Monroe, Amelia Monroe and Annalise Monroe. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Donna; brothers: Dick Monroe, Fred Monroe, and Steve Monroe; sisters: Patti Herb, Janice Thompson and Nancy Borowski.

The Christian Funeral Service for Chuck will be held on Tuesday, March 19 at 11:00 am at BETHANY EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 530 W. Parkway Blvd. Appleton, with Pastor Dan Johnston officiating. Friends and relatives may visit from 9:00 am to the time of the service. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park in AppletonWI.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church, Appleton.

Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure, because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, nor will you let your faithful one see decay.
