Michael R. Carson, 78, passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at his home.

Born Sept. 29, 1945 in Alton, he was the son of Roy and Jean (Oller) Carson.

On July 11, 1964 he married Linda Terry. She preceded him in death in 2014, shortly after their 50th wedding anniversary.

Michael graduated from Roxana High School. He worked a short time at the glassworks before he went to work for Local #553 as a pipefitter. He went into the office as a business agent in 1980. He retired in 2000.

Michael was an avid sports fan all his life, For a short time he was really into horse racing, and even owned a couple of horses. Later in life he traded that hobby for golf. He played a lot of golf until he couldn't because of his health.

He is survived by one son, Michael R. Carson, II. In addition, a niece and nephew, Terri Fincher and Greg Eubanks that he raised after his sister passed away; three grandchildren, Matthew, Britini, and Brett; 13 great grandchildren, Luke, Madison, Abby, Cammeron, Payton, Jaxson, Landon, Jace, Bryce, Aubrey, Ian, Lyla and Owen; a sister and brother-in-law, Pam and Herb Croxford; brother-in-law, Kevin Terry; 2 sisters-in-law, Stephanie Leffert and Deana Harris.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; a sister, Patricia Arnold; brother-in-law, Scott Terry; and an infant daughter and son, Karen and Shawn Carson.

At his request, he will be cremated and there will be no services.
