She married Burl C. Day of Clinton May 9, 1925, in Danville. He preceded her in death Nov. 4, 1993.
Surviving are seven children, Marion, Shirley, Esther Crotchett and husband Kenneth, Paul and wife Wanda, Maurice and wife Nancy, Carole Schove and husband Lonnie, Margaret Grissom and husband Everett; three sisters, Thelma Wyent, Verneille Bricker, Gevevieve Walker and husband Lucus; one brother, Steven Ballance and wife Juanita; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchilden.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Clifford; two infant sisters, one grandson, Melvin Day and three great-great-grandchildren.
She taught grade schools in the 1920's near Secor and at Cox School in the rural Clinton area in De Witt County. She and her husband farmed in Creek Township in Clinton area for thirty-six years and then in the Long Creek area in Macon County since 1960. She was a mother and grandmother who loved her family and her church and those who worshiped there. She enjoyed quilting, nature, and teaching school.
