She was born January 27, 1908, in Vernon, Illinois, the daughter of Charles and Tamar R. Metheny Ballance. She married William Henry Wyant on May 7, 1924, in Sandoval. He preceded her in death March 28, 1977. She was a homemaker.
Surviving are three daughters, Donna (Delmar) Beecher, Maxine (Howard) Payne and Phyllis (Donald) Birge, two sons, Kenneth (Margie) Wyant and Wayne (Naomi) Wyant, one daughter-in-law, Doris Wyant, one sister, Genevieve Walker, one brother, Stephen Ballance, nineteen grandchildren, forty-five great-grandchildren and seventeen great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Charles Wyant and Eugene Wyant, one brother, four sisters (two in infancy) and one granddaughter.
She was a member of Colfax Christian Church, the Hustlers women's group of the church and N.T.O. club.
Thelma was a patient and dedicated mother, honest, and a person of strong spiritual belief. She was a loving grandmother, and she took the time and patience to teach many her homemaking skills. Thelma was a hard worker and a good cook. She will be missed greatly by her family.
