Served in 27th Georgia with 3 brothers (Francis Henry Gaines (killed at Cold Harbor in 1864)), Henry Washington Tanner Gaines (who married Francis Henry's widow and became my great-great grandmother), William Marion Dorsey Gaines (who was mortally wounded at Antietam) and an Uncle (Andrew Jackson Gaines).
