Injured Eight Weeks Ago: Funeral to be held Friday
Mrs. Dora Falldorf, a resident of this community for over 70 years, died last evening in a local hospital. Mrs. Faldorf suffered fracture of one leg in a fall at her home eight weeks ago and had been confined at the hospital since that time. The family home is at 816 West Koenig.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Livingston-Sondermann funeral home by Dr. C. B. Harman, Lutheran pastor. Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery.
Mrs. Falldorf was born in Hanover, Germany on July 11, 1861. She was orphaned in early childhood and was taken into the home of family friends. When she was a young woman, Mrs. Falldorf came with friends to America and to the Chapman community.
In December of 1879, she and Fred Falldorf were married in Grand Island. They lived on their farm five miles south east of Grand Island until 1910 when they retired and came to Grand Island to make their home. The following year, Mr. and Mrs. Falldorf purchased their home at 816 West Koenig. Mr. Falldorf died in 1918.
Mrs. Falldorf was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Germany. She was a member of the Frauen Vereen and of the Women's Benefit association. Until the time of her accident eight weeks ago, she had been unusually active for one of her years.
Surviving are two sons, John Falldorf of Grand Island, and Otto Falldorf of Phillips; 33 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, Mrs. Falldorf was preceded in death by one son, Henry Falldorf, and two daughters Mrs. John Schuller and Mrs. John Heesch.
