Phebe became the third and final wife of John Munn Sr and bore him at least eight of his 16 children. She not only accounted for the most children, but she was the longest lived, surviving him by almost 12 years.
According to a granddaughter, she was young and beautiful, and possibly an orphan, when she married the more than well-to-do John Munn. But "After the last of her children was born she became very large and fat. She worked very hard, had a demanding husband, and had children who wouldn't help her much. She developed a bad heart, had swollen feet and found it hard to breathe. She died in her sleep, apparently from her heart condition."
