PASSING OF PIONEER
MRS. PHYLENA SELLERS DIED AT HOME OF SON, TUESDAY
Mrs. James Sellers died at the home of her son, I.J. Gilbert, in Benton township, Tuesday night, at near 9:00 o'clock, after an acute illness of only a few days, but she had been in practically a helpless condition for many months.
Mr. and Mrs. Sellers resided at Melrose but owing to their feeble condition her son brought them to his home for better care, several weeks ago. Mr. Sellers had previously sustained a stroke of paralysis and was unable to get about and is also in a critical condition.
On Monday when the physician visited Mrs. Sellers he told the family that the end was near and her two daughters, Mesdames Dell Hellyer and Ella Whitten, were made known of the facts by telegram and they immediately started for Iowa, reaching here after their mother had passed away. Mrs. Sellers was given the best of care by her son and daughter-in-law, but fate had decreed the end.
She was near 80 years of age and had come to Iowa when a girl with her parents from Indiana, and settled in Cedar township and was a sister of the late William, John and Jacob F. Galtry (Goltry), she being the last of her family.
The funeral is to be held at the home of her son and the interment will take place at LaGrange where so many of her family rest.
