Leonard Bellecourt was born Sept. 10, 1950, in Cass Lake, Minn., attended schools in White Earth and Waubun, Minn., served with the Army in Vietnam and was a telemarketer in the Twin Cities. He returned to Waubun to work at the Ojibwa Mill, was a surveyor and worked at Manitok Wild Rice and Golden Eagle Bingo. He married Tina Sorving Sept. 14, 1985, in Waubun.
She survives with daughters, Angel Van Wert, Tonya Bellecourt, Valerie Bellecourt and Misty Bellecourt, all at home, father, Donovan Bellanger, Waubun; mother, Gloria Bellecourt, White Earth; brothers, Randy Bellanger, Detroit Lakes, Minn., Charles Bellanger and Robin Bellanger, both of Waubun; and sisters Sandra Kriesel, Minneapolis, Terri (Mrs. John) Weber, Aurora, Colo., Debra (Mrs. Neil) Vaggen, LaCrosse, Wis., and Tracie Bellanger, Waubun.
Services: 10 a.m. Monday in Elbow Lake Lutheran Church, Elbow Lake Village, rural Waubun.
Visitation: After 6 p.m. Sunday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, and one hour before services in church. Members of White Earth Indian Nation Legion Post 625 will conduct Military honors.
Burial: Vernon Anderson Memorial Cemetery, rural Waubun (Mattson, Mahnomen, Minn.).
