Mr. Bellanger was born June 11, 1929, in White Earth, where he grew up and attended school. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War. After his military discharge, he worked as an alcoholism counselor and maintenance engineer for the White Earth Tribal Council. He retired in 1996. He married Linda Mesenbrink May 10, 1976.
He is survived by his wife; four sons, Randy (Michelle), Waubun, Minn., Robin, Lyman Lowry, both Mahnomen, Eugene Olson, Naytahwaush, Minn.; four daughters, Teri Ann (John) Webre, Spokane, Wash., Deborah Vaagan, La Crosse, Wis., Tracie Bellanger, Mahnomen, Sheila Bellanger, Minneapolis; two brothers, Lowell (Marge), Darwin, both White Earth; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Today from 4 to 8, with a prayer service at 7, in David-Donehower Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes, Minn., and one hour before the funeral in the church.
Funeral: Thursday at 2 in St. Benedict's Catholic Church, White Earth.
