Mary Jane was born in New York, to James & Louisa (Anderson) Bowles. Her family moved to Wisconsin. This is where she met & married William Bon, in 1863. They joined the Blacker/Bowles wagon train for Jewell County KS. in 1876 & resided near Mayview, KS. for 46 yrs. They adopted an infant daughter. They named her Myrtle L. Bon. Mary Jane passed away in Oct. 1922, at her daughters home in Phillipsburg, KS.
