SODA SPRINGS — LaVon Baird Olsen Evans, 91, of Soda Springs, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2006, at the Caribou Memorial Living Center in Soda Springs. She was born September 30, 1915, at Mink Creek, Idaho, the daughter of George A. and Agnes Belle Baird Olsen. She was raised and educated in Grace; she had also lived in Logan, Utah for two years, Preston, Idaho, for four years, Salt Lake City, Utah for 30 years, and the last four years in Soda Springs.
She married Earl Elmer Evans June 23, 1937, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Earl passed away October 24, 1972.
LaVon was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had served as Relief Society secretary, Primary teacher, visiting teacher and many other positions.
She had operated and owned several cafes, and worked at various other businesses. She enjoyed dancing, gardening, flowers, traveling, reading, crocheting and her grandchildren.
LaVon is survived by one son, Bill and Espie Evans, Salt Lake City, Utah; two daughters, Ruth and Doyle DeKay, Soda Springs, Idaho, and Trudy and Detlef Preuer, Salt Lake City, Utah. Also surviving are six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, four brothers, one great-grandson and a great-greatgrandson.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, December 4 at noon at the Sims Funeral Home, with Bishop Ken Christensen officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Sims Funeral Home.
