GRACE - Vester A. Olsen, 91, a lifelong resident of Grace, passed away Friday, April 1, 2005, at the Caribou Memorial Hospital in Soda Springs. He was born April 13, 1913, at Mink Creek, Idaho, the son of George A. and Agnes Bell Baird Olsen. On Sept. 16, 1936, he married Lillie Virginia Hansen in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She passed away on June 18, 1998.

He was a high priest in the Grace LDS First Ward. Vester enjoyed chariot racing and was one of the original members of the Caribou County Posse. He was inducted into the Horseman Hall of Fame and enjoyed being on the Caribou County Fair Board for several years. He loved horses and especially loved his grandchildren.

He is survived by one son and one daughter, Eugene and Karine Olsen and Joan and Lynn Andreason, all of Grace, Idaho. Also surviving are five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lavon Julander, Soda Springs; and a brother-in-law, Dewey Hansen; and a sister-in-law, Phyllis Gibson, both of Grace.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie, three brothers and four sisters, Harley, Alexander and Ariel Olsen, Margaret Thomas, Eurminie Egbert, Grace Johnson, twin sister, Vessie Allen, and one great-granddaughter.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at noon in the Grace LDS Stake Center. Family will meet friends Monday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Sims Funeral Home in Soda Springs and on Tuesday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Grace Stake Center prior to services. Burial will be in the Grace Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Sims Funeral Home.
