Charles Leo Hager
Charles Leo hager, 77. Springfield Mo., went to be with the Lord at 12:30 a.m. Sunday May 5, 1996. In his home following a long illness.
Mr Hager was born Feb 20, 1919, in Springfield , Mo., to Fred and Marybelle Hager.
Charley had recalled a time of traveling to St. Louis with his parents in a covered wagon. He was aprofessional bass guitarist and had performed with the Chet Atkins Band at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tenn. He later worked as Service Manager for Central Dodge, GMC Trucks, and I-44 Truck sales in Springfield , MO During the 1960's, Mr Hager earned the award of "Number One Diesel Mechanic" in Springfield, MO in later years ho worked as a self-employed mechanic.
Charley loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. He loved and enjoyed his family and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Marybelle Hager, Strafford; two brothers. Robert and James Hager; a sister Betty Jean Montgomery; and a great-grandson, Dustin Dan Hargis, both of Springfield, MO.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Gertrude Hager, at the home; two daughters, Barbara Joan Ross, wife of Victor R Ross and Sharon Kay Kappler, all of Springfield; a sister Beatrice V Grunlien, wife of Milan E. Grunlien, Strafford, Mo., seven grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; a great graet grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cahrley "Pa Pa" was loved and will be missed by all.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 8, 1996 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens with the Rev Obie Harris officiating under direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home North.
Friend may call after 3 p.m. from 7 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
