Harriet Morrison
Harriet Morrison, 89, of Ames Street, Elk Rapids, died Friday evening at Meadow Brook Medical Facility after a lengthy illness. She was born Feb. 25, 1886, in Elk Rapids, to Elmer and Ruth (Angell) Farrell. On Oct. 29, 1912 in Flint, she married Clair Morrison who preceded her in death in 1950. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Harry Farrell; one sister, Nora Crampton; and two half-brothers, William and Charles Rhoads. She grew up in Elk Rapids, moving to Alma after high school to attend Alma College. She taught kindergarten in Alma and then moved to Flint where she also taught.
For the past 25 years she has lived in Elk Rapids. She enjoyed gardening.
Surviving are three nephews, Donald Crampton of Grosse Pointe; Vincent Crampton of Detroit and Harrison Farrell of Elk Rapids; one niece, Mrs. Jack (Jean) Stanford of Jefferson City, Mo. She was affiliated with St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Elk Rapids.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Dockery-Wilhelm-Smith Funeral Home in Elk Rapids, the Rev. Barney Roepcke officiating.
Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Elk Rapids. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 9p.m. Sunday and from 1 to 9 p.m. Monday.
