According to the Shelby county Mortuary Report, Margaret Caroline (née Williamson) Elliston died in Memphis during the week ending 15 September 1894 (The Commercial Appeal, Memphis, Tenn., Sunday 16 September 1894, p. 7) shortly after returning home from visiting her son Dr T. E. Elliston in Nashville (Nashville Banner, Tuesday 4 September 1894, 8). Cemetery records note she was buried 15 September 1894.

        Margaret's mother, Nancy Evans Crutchfield, was the daughter of Hannah née Mabry (1789–c1849) of Sumner and Wilson counties, Tennessee, and the Rev. William Henry Crutchfield (1775–1812) of Caroline county, Virginia, and Sumner and Wilson counties, Tennessee. Her father, William Williamson, was the son of Margaret Scott née Cloyd (1766–1845) and John Williamson (1764–1839), both of Montgomery county, Virginia, and Green Hill, Wilson county, Tennessee.
