Almon H. Jones was born March 3, 1895 near Thayer, MO.
In his early life he traveled quite a bit, living in several states; but always returning to Thayer, where he made his home the past twenty-five years.
On November 13, 1923 he was married to Laura Ellen Mansfield and to them three children were born; two sons, Herbert Morris and Willard Murl, and a daughter. Anita.
He is survived by his beloved wife; three children; four grandchildren; two brothers, Fred Jones of Billings, MT; and Bryan Jones of Tulsa, OK; and his mother, Mrs. Inez Jones of Thayer, MO.
In August he suffered a stroke and was taken to St. Bernard's Hospital in Jonesboro, AR, where doctors held no hope for his life. Although he lay in a coma for days, near death; his life was miraculously spared and he was converted. His health improved and he returned to his farm. He lived three months, always cheerful, but impatient to be up working again. His sudden death came one night after he had a vision of it.
Almon was well known and liked; he had a good heart and was kind and merciful to all things. He will be remembered by many.
Services were Nov. 28 at the Assembly of God Church, conducted by Rev. L.R. Lynch. Burial in Thayer Cemetery, under the direction of Carter Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Robert Butler, Smith Harlan, Homer York, Pressley M. York, Roy L. Crain and Sam Timberlake.
